Start with policy, not a capture device
Attendance automation begins with clear expectations: when employees work, how breaks and weekly offs are handled, and how the company reviews exceptions. A punch record cannot decide the policy for you. Confirm the working arrangement and applicable employment requirements before configuring software.
Mentrox OneHR supports shifts with time and work-minute settings, employee assignments and daily attendance records. Review the capture and location controls available in your deployment rather than assuming a biometric or offline integration exists.
Design a visible exception process
Missing punches, incorrect dates and approved absences need a deliberate review path. Employees should know where to request a correction and how to check its status. Authorized reviewers should assess the supporting context before treating the attendance record as final.
Daily or periodic review reduces the number of unexplained exceptions waiting at month end. A configured grace threshold is an input to the process, not proof that every late arrival deserves the same employment decision.
Close the loop with payroll review
Once attendance and leave have been reviewed, inspect their effect on loss of pay and the employee’s payroll result. Keep the period and employee scope consistent. If a correction happens after processing, investigate its effect before changing financial records.
A good attendance workflow reduces repeated consolidation while keeping review responsibility explicit. Measure whether your team can explain a period’s records, not merely whether every punch was captured.
